Terms of Service
Short, readable and honest. Using ScanMaster means accepting these terms — and the only thing you give up is nothing: your documents stay yours.
1. The service
ScanMaster provides software that runs inside your web browser to manipulate PDF, image and text files. The tools are provided free of charge, without an account, and without a contractual obligation on either side to keep them available. We may add, change or retire a tool at any time.
2. Your content stays yours
Because your files never reach our servers, we never obtain a licence to them, never review them and never claim rights over them. Output belongs to you and you may use it commercially — publish, file, sign or sell it. We add no watermark and no hidden metadata of our own.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use ScanMaster to:
- forge signatures or alter documents you have no authority to modify;
- strip ownership or provenance marks from work that is not yours;
- process material whose possession or creation is unlawful in your jurisdiction;
- attempt to break, overload or probe the site outside its normal use.
We do not screen files — we cannot. Responsibility for what you create and share with the tools is yours.
4. Capability labels are part of the terms
Tools are marked Ready, Partial or Coming soon, and Partial/Coming soon pages state the exact limitation. A Partial tool does real work with a documented shortfall; a Coming soon tool explains why the browser cannot do it honestly and points at a workaround. We will never label a file as converted when it was not.
5. No warranty
The tools are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Document processing can fail — a malformed PDF, an unusual font, a browser memory limit. Keep a copy of anything important before you work on it. You use ScanMaster at your own risk.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ScanMaster and its maintainers are not liable for loss of data, lost profit, or any indirect or consequential damage arising from use of, or inability to use, the site.
7. Third-party open source
The site bundles open-source libraries — including pdf-lib, PDF.js, Tesseract.js, ExifReader, heic-to, fflate, marked, docx, jsQR and JsBarcode — each under its own licence. Their licences ship inside the application bundles and remain with their authors.
8. Trademarks of other products
Mentions of formats or products such as PDF, Word, Excel or PowerPoint are for identification only; their trademarks belong to their respective owners. ScanMaster is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
9. Changes
Updated terms are posted on this page before they apply. Continued use after a change means you accept it. Material changes get a note here, not a buried diff.
