About Compare Two PDF Files

Compare Two PDF Files is here for reading and pulling content out of files: text-level comparison of two PDFs with added/removed lines. It takes PDF. What it does today: compares extracted text (added / removed / changed lines).

Useful when the job is reading and pulling content out of files and you would rather not install software, join a queue or hand the file to a stranger.

How to use Compare Two PDF Files in 3 steps

  1. Drop the PDF onto the drop area — a single file, up to 100 MB.
  2. Set the second PDF, which is compared page by page against the first — this tool reports back on the page rather than writing a file.
  3. Press Compare files and save the result.

What you get with Compare Two PDF Files

  • Honest scope: compares extracted text (added / removed / changed lines).
  • Runs in your browser — the file is never uploaded
  • Free to use, with no signup and no account
  • No watermark or logo added to your output
  • Works on desktop and mobile, no install

Compare Two PDF Files: questions

Which file types does Compare Two PDF Files accept?
The drop area takes PDF. Files are read from your device in the browser, so the format has to be one a browser can decode — that is why the accepted list on this page is finite and honest rather than "everything".
Is there a file size limit?
A single file may be up to 100 MB, and a batch up to 50 files. Those are guardrails rather than a paid tier — the work happens on your machine, so an enormous document is limited by your own memory before it is limited by us.
Does my file get uploaded?
No. The page reads the file through the browser's own file API and processes it in the tab. Closing the tab discards the working copy, which is why there is no storage to clear and no retention policy to read.
What can't Compare Two PDF Files do?
Compares extracted text (added / removed / changed lines). Visual differences in images or formatting are not detected. That limit is stated on the page and in the alert above the tool, not buried in a footnote.
