Flatten PDF
Merge interactive layers into static page content.
About Flatten PDF
Flatten a PDF by merging its interactive layers — form fields, annotations, comments and pop-up notes — into the static page content. The result looks the same everywhere and can no longer be edited in place, which is exactly what you want before sending a filled form or a marked-up contract onward.
Locking down a filled form or a reviewed contract before it leaves your hands.
How to use Flatten PDF in 3 steps
- Drop the PDF that still has fields, comments or annotations live.
- Choose whether to keep or discard the annotation content in the flattened page.
- Flatten and download the version that prints identically on any device.
What you get with Flatten PDF

- No watermark or logo added to your output
- Works on desktop and mobile, no install
Flatten PDF: questions
- What do I lose when I flatten a PDF?
- Editability. Fields stop being fields and comments stop being comments — they become drawn content. Keep the unflattened original if you may need to change the form again.
- Does flattening remove hidden metadata?
- Not by itself. Flattening merges visible layers; run Remove PDF Metadata afterwards if you also want author, title and producer fields gone.
- Can a flattened PDF still be searched?
- Text that was already real text stays searchable. Content that came from a form field or an annotation becomes an image of text, so OCR afterwards if you need it selectable.
