Linearize PDF is on the roadmap and not working yet, and this page says so instead of leaving you with a dead button. Why it is not live yet: byte-wise linearization is only reliable with native tooling (qpdf). Everything else on this site runs in your browser today; the parts marked coming soon need capability a browser tab does not have.
Reach for it when making a document lighter without wrecking it is a one-off rather than a workflow: one file, one result, no account in front of it.
How to use Linearize PDF in 3 steps
- This tool is marked coming soon, so nothing here will convert or process a file — read the reason stated above before you spend time on it.
- Use the closest tool that does work today: it takes PDF, so look for a live tool in Optimize PDF.
- Bring the result back here for the rest of the job — merging, compressing, protecting or signing a finished file all work today.
What you get with Linearize PDF
- One job, done in the browser: reorder the file so page 1 shows before the rest downloads.
- Free to use, with no signup and no account
- No watermark or logo added to your output
- Works on desktop and mobile, no install
Linearize PDF: questions
- Will it work on a phone?
- Yes. The layout adapts to a small screen and the processing runs in the mobile browser, so a photo or a downloaded document can be handled on the device it arrived on.
- Why is it free?
- Because the expensive part — the server farm — does not exist. Processing runs on your device, so the site can stay free without a signup wall in front of it or an upsell in the middle of a job.
- Which file types does Linearize PDF accept?
- The drop area takes PDF. Files are read from your device in the browser, so the format has to be one a browser can decode — that is why the accepted list on this page is finite and honest rather than "everything".
- What do I get back from Linearize PDF?
- The result is PDF, offered as a download the moment the work finishes. Multiple results come back together rather than as fifty separate save dialogs.
