Optimize PDF for Web

Coming soon

Fast web-viewing needs byte-range serving (linearization).

Optimize PDF for Web isn't available in browser mode — yet.

Linearizing requires a server-side qpdf engine; it cannot be produced reliably in the browser. Use Compress PDF to reduce size meanwhile.

About Optimize PDF for Web

Optimize PDF for Web is on the roadmap and not working yet, and this page says so instead of leaving you with a dead button. Why it is not live yet: linearizing requires a server-side qpdf engine; it cannot be produced reliably in the browser. Everything else on this site runs in your browser today; the parts marked coming soon need capability a browser tab does not have.

Useful when the job is making a document lighter without wrecking it and you would rather not install software, join a queue or hand the file to a stranger.

How to use Optimize PDF for Web in 3 steps

  1. This tool is marked coming soon, so nothing here will convert or process a file — read the reason stated above before you spend time on it.
  2. Use the closest tool that does work today: it takes PDF, so look for a live tool in Optimize PDF.
  3. Bring the result back here for the rest of the job — merging, compressing, protecting or signing a finished file all work today.

What you get with Optimize PDF for Web

  • One job, done in the browser: fast web-viewing needs byte-range serving (linearization).
  • Free to use, with no signup and no account
  • No watermark or logo added to your output
  • Works on desktop and mobile, no install

Optimize PDF for Web: questions

Which file types does Optimize PDF for Web accept?
The drop area takes PDF. Files are read from your device in the browser, so the format has to be one a browser can decode — that is why the accepted list on this page is finite and honest rather than "everything".
What do I get back from Optimize PDF for Web?
The result is PDF, offered as a download the moment the work finishes. Multiple results come back together rather than as fifty separate save dialogs.
Is there a file size limit?
A single file may be up to 100 MB, and a batch up to 50 files. Those are guardrails rather than a paid tier — the work happens on your machine, so an enormous document is limited by your own memory before it is limited by us.
Is it safe to use for a document with personal details in it?
That is the design goal: the document stays on your device, so a statement, a contract or an ID photo is never transmitted for processing. Nothing here needs an internet connection once the page has loaded, apart from engines that fetch their own model data.
