HEIC to JPG: questions
- Why does my iPhone save .heic in the first place?
- HEIC holds the same picture at a fraction of a JPG's size. It is a good format that not everything supports yet, which is exactly the gap this tool fills.
- Do I lose the photo's quality?
- One decode and one re-encode happen, so there is a small loss at whatever quality you pick. At 90% or above it is not visible in normal viewing.
- Can I convert several at once?
- Yes — up to 50 files per batch, each up to 100 MB, and the whole set comes back as a ZIP.
- Will the date and location metadata survive?
- Re-encoding through the canvas does not carry the original EXIF across. If you need it kept, note the details before converting; if you want it gone, this is a side effect you may welcome.
