About Image Metadata Viewer

Image Metadata Viewer is here for editing a picture one job at a time: full EXIF/IPTC inspection: camera, GPS, timestamps. It takes JPG, JPEG, PNG and 9 more. Nothing is sent anywhere: the browser reads the file, does the work and hands the result back.

The slow route to editing a picture one job at a time is installing something, making an account and uploading the file; this is the fast route.

How to use Image Metadata Viewer in 3 steps

  1. Add the picture you want to work on; mixed formats are accepted, up to 100 MB.
  2. There is nothing to configure for Image Metadata Viewer — the metadata is read straight out of the file.
  3. Press Read metadata and save the result.

Image Metadata Viewer: questions

Why is it free?
Because the expensive part — the server farm — does not exist. Processing runs on your device, so the site can stay free without a signup wall in front of it or an upsell in the middle of a job.
Which file types does Image Metadata Viewer accept?
The drop area takes JPG, JPEG, PNG and 9 more. Files are read from your device in the browser, so the format has to be one a browser can decode — that is why the accepted list on this page is finite and honest rather than "everything".
Is there a file size limit?
A single file may be up to 100 MB, and a batch up to 50 files. Those are guardrails rather than a paid tier — the work happens on your machine, so an enormous document is limited by your own memory before it is limited by us.
Does my file get uploaded?
No. The page reads the file through the browser's own file API and processes it in the tab. Closing the tab discards the working copy, which is why there is no storage to clear and no retention policy to read.
