PDF to Excel
Beta
Turn PDF tables into spreadsheets.
Delivered as CSV: table detection is heuristic — column splitting works on regular tables, complex merged cells need manual cleanup. A native XLSX writer requires server-side tooling.
About PDF to Excel
Convert a PDF to a spreadsheet by detecting the tables on the page and writing their rows and columns out as CSV, which Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers all open directly. Detection is a heuristic, so merged cells need a pass of manual cleanup; the sweet spot is the regular tables — invoices, statements and reports with aligned columns.
Turning a statement or invoice PDF into rows you can total and pivot.
How to use PDF to Excel in 3 steps
- Drag a PDF that contains tables onto the drop area.

PDF to Excel: questions
- Why is the output CSV rather than .xlsx?
- A native XLSX writer needs server-side tooling, so the delivered file is CSV. Nothing is lost that matters for tabular data: open the CSV and save it as .xlsx if you need formatting or several sheets.
- What happens with merged cells or a complex table?
- Table detection is heuristic. Regular grids come through cleanly; merged headers and indented subtotals usually need a minute of manual cleanup.
- What can't PDF to Excel do?
- Delivered as CSV: table detection is heuristic — column splitting works on regular tables, complex merged cells need manual cleanup. A native XLSX writer requires server-side tooling. That limit is stated on the page and in the alert above the tool, not buried in a footnote.
- Can I extract a table from a scanned invoice?
- Not until the page has a text layer. Run OCR PDF first, then extract the table from the result.
