JPG to PNG
Convert JPG to lossless PNG with transparency support.
About JPG to PNG
Convert JPG to PNG when you need lossless storage and an alpha channel — because the file is going into an editor, a design tool, or a step where repeated JPG compression would keep degrading it. The picture is not made better than the original; it stops being re-compressed.
A working file for an editor, or an image that must survive several saves.
How to use JPG to PNG in 3 steps
- Drop the JPG files onto the drop area.
- Confirm PNG as the output format — there is no quality slider, PNG is exact.
- Convert and download the PNGs.

JPG to PNG: questions
- Does converting to PNG add transparency?
- No. A JPG has no transparency information to recover, so the PNG holds the same opaque rectangle. To get a cut-out, remove the background first.
- Why is the PNG so much bigger?
- PNG stores pixels exactly instead of approximating them the way JPG does. That is the point of the trade — if you want small *and* PNG-like, use PNG Compressor or convert to WEBP.
- Will the JPG artefacts disappear?
- They stay. PNG preserves what the JPG already lost, which is why converting before a heavy edit is useful and converting afterwards is not.
